🙌🏽 Welcome to In Community. Stop right there – don’t scroll past just yet.

My continued work depends on you. For less than $50 for the year, you can have full access to future bonus content and events. Or, you can contribute a smaller amount today. Take a sec to show your support – it means a lot to me.

“I think that it means that anything is possible.”

That’s what Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson said when asked about her debut on Broadway – something she didn’t expect to ever achieve.

She made history when she became the first Black female US supreme court justice, and her appearance as a performer on stage made history once again. In the process, it disrupted the idea that many might have about how a judge – and particularly one in the highest court in the land – should be expected to behave.

When I wrote about being a troublemaker last week, disruption was a key element to this, to challenge the status quo. Here’s what I didn’t say though.

👉🏽 Deliberate disruption comes from understanding your superpower.

👉🏽 What is it about you that nobody else can say about themselves? That's where you'll see your superpower.

👉🏽 What makes you stand out? That might be exactly what helps you to have outstanding impact. Lean into what makes you different. Be honest with yourself about what it is and why it is.

Not sure where to start?

Tap those who know you best. The ones who get you – the real you. Ask them what sets you apart. See if they can describe it in a single word or phrase.

Bring together everything you hear – do you see a trend? Do you see any themes? You might be surprised by what you discover, and you might just find some joy in it along the way.

Once you begin to understand that superpower, you can map out how to harness it. There’s no better time than now, as this time of year tends to be a natural time to slow down and connect with our loved ones – the ones who know us best and will give it to us straight. Use this as a natural time to connect with them, with your superpower and, importantly, with yourself.

Heads up: There won’t be a newsletter coming your way next week, but I’ll be back in January. Make sure to take some time to disconnect and recharge. See you in 2025!
