Take a deep breath – you’re nearly at the finish line.
Last week, I wrote about how much your locus of control influences your wellbeing, along with your success, however you define it. It’s inevitable that as the year draws closer to its end, it feels like a race to get there.
Deadlines at work, taking care of your daily commitments, and getting ready for the holidays – potentially with travel involved – all while prepping for the next twelve months amounts to a heavy load. With so much going on, many of us have a tendency to focus on others rather than ourselves. Outward, not inward.
👉🏽 This is your reminder that it shouldn’t just be one or the other.
Trust me, I get it. It’s easy for it to feel like you’ve pushed this far and can push through a little bit more. You can – but not without a pause first.
What if you take that pause – that symbolic (and literal) deep breath – and make it part of your routine as you keep moving forward? What would that look like for you?
Is it making sure you do that quick morning run to get your day started with more energy? Is it saying no to that holiday event this time around? Is it something else?
Remember, it doesn’t need to feel huge – the smallest waterdrops can cause ripples that spread far and wide. It can be something simple that helps to connect with yourself and care for yourself.
Dare yourself to take care of you too, not just your other commitments, whether at work, with family, or otherwise. It makes all the difference.
And it’s something that the featured leaders, creators, and culture-makers in this week’s Need to Know have learned for themselves, as they continue to push for change by using their platforms to move us all forward and inspire action.
