What’s next?

It’s a question I often ask myself – and more often get asked by others.

It usually comes after a recognition of a milestone or achievement, so it feels good. It feels natural.

But in the rush of moving on to the next, it’s easy to lose the positive weight of what just was – the grounding effect of the recognition, rather than what follows it.

Last week, I wrote about how rest challenges urgency culture. That rest is the grounding effect. This week, let’s talk about how you come back stronger for what’s next.

Brief as that pause might’ve been, if you stepped back, took a breath, and listened – to your deeper “why” – it was a moment to align your goals with the steps you need to get there in a way that feels more you.

With that step back, how do we re-enter?

Do it with intention. Not rushing back in. Not defaulting to the same old rhythm. Not just bouncing back into it, but stepping forward with purpose.

What intentional re-entry looks like:

👉🏽 Let clarity lead. What rose to the top during that pause? A truth you’d ignored? A need that had gone unmet for yourself, your family, or your work? A desire to solve a problem? Before diving back into the noise, give those insights a voice. Let them guide your next move.

👉🏽 Choose what comes with you. Not everything that was on your plate before the pause needs to return. Some things can be left behind – distracting projects, perceptions, or beliefs. Ask yourself what will give you energy back when you give it your energy in the first place.

Does In Community help you see things differently or feel the end-of-week positive vibes? If it does, consider becoming a supporting subscriber.

As an independent organization without external funding, subscribers help to ensure we continue elevating voices and sharing the stories that don’t hit the mainstream.

ICYMI: Supporting subscribers also get preferred access to upcoming content and events – including events we have coming this fall.

👉🏽 Set your re-entry pace. Urgency can sometimes be relative. You’re allowed to re-engage slowly and with care – but make sure to set the tone in the way that gets you closer to your goal. Rebuilding your rhythm isn’t about going faster – it’s about moving forward with that clarity.

👉🏽 Bring your people with you. There’s no need to re-enter alone. Share with your people – the friends, family, or fans of what you’re working toward. Ask them what shifts they’re making too.

Community keeps us accountable to our growth – on our own and together. When we share, we soften the edges of what can otherwise be a hard reset.

So this week, ask yourself:

What’s one thing I’m choosing to do differently after I come back from rest – after I take a pause and re-enter with intention?

If this resonated – and you know someone who could use the boost for themselves, pass it on 🔁.
