You got this: In Community #28

Your weekly boost of positive energy centering BIPOC

Is it time for a vacation yet?

Last week, I wrote about speaking up and seeking support. When working toward goals – and especially when we feel like we’re running to catch up because we started out at a disadvantage – we often tend not to slow down and ask for help.

I know I’m not the only one feeling this – there’s a mixed sort of fatigue and excitement that hits around this time of year. Excitement as upcoming travel plans get closer and closer but fatigue as we inch toward them.

We’re speeding up just so we can find a moment to slow down. In the spirit of seeking out support, remember that your mental health is a priority.

👉🏽 YOU are a priority.

You can’t pour from an empty cup.

It’s natural for us – especially when we’re ambitious achievers – to have at least 100 tabs open on our browser. (I see you 👀)

This often translates to at least 100 ideas competing for attention in our minds. That internal competition and clutter creates tension – and we know tension eventually builds until it needs a release.

👉🏽 Ask yourself: What am I doing to release the tension building in my mind?

Now is a good time to remind yourself that you got this. You’ll hit those goals. But you need to take breaks to re-energize. Close those tabs in your mind.

So as you get ready to take time for yourself – whether it’s to work out, get some art and culture, or grab a snack, this week’s Need to Know might help inspire an extra boost of energy.
