🔥 Build it now: In Community #63
Your weekly boost of positive energy centering BIPOC leaders, creators, and culture-makers
🙌🏽 Welcome to In Community.
Take a sec to learn about this week’s sponsor, and make sure to check out their special promo offer. Their support helps me continue this work.
Let’s get serious
What’s the mark of the world’s best, most growth-minded newsletter creators? They’re all on beehiiv.
Why? Our entire platform exists to help serious content creators scale faster. We’re built for those who are ready to take their content and build it into a behemoth.
It’s why we offer a no-code website builder. It’s why our ad network matches you with global brands like Nike and Netflix. It’s why we never take a dime of your subscription revenue. And it’s why Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ashley Graham trust us to connect with their huge fan bases.
It’s all to put your hard work in front of more people. So if you’re ready to build, ready to grow, and ready to make the world take notice, beehiiv is ready for you.
Don’t wait. Build it now.
Even if you’re not sure what “it” should look like.
Last week, I wrote about using your platform – whatever it looks like – to create influence.
👉🏽 What idea have you been considering in the back of your mind that could help you do that?
👉🏽 How can you build it?
👉🏽 Who can help you build it?
As I look back on nearly five years since I established the idea that would eventually become Hue, I remember a feeling I hadn’t felt in a long time up until that point.
It was a creative spark and renewed motivation, because I was using my unique superpower to make a difference. Not only that, but I was doing it on my terms. That superpower – what set me apart from others – was to help bring people together across boundaries.
I continue to believe today what I believed then.
What connects us is greater than what divides us.
Keep in mind that this was before COVID-related shutdowns, the renewed BLM movement, the Stop Asian Hate efforts, and everything that came after.
I understood the need to build community across our identities – to build a coalition to drive influence – but I had no idea it would resonate as deeply and broadly as it has.
Those of you who’ve been with me throughout the journey, from the earliest members to the first amplifiers to the initial partner companies, know that it hasn’t been easy.
The moment we’re in today isn’t easy.
I can’t help but feel that spark again though. That renewed motivation. The fact is that we need community now more than ever, and values-aligned leaders have a responsibility to build coalitions and build the future we want to see.
How are you going to be a part of it? What will you build?
Don’t wait. Build it now.
